Winter is here and just because the series finale of “Game of Thrones” was disappointing doesn’t mean that your “Date Nights” this winter have to be. It can be hard to come up with fun date night ideas during the winter months. Most outdoors activities are out. It’s cold and lots of times we just want to curl up in our favorite comfy blanket and not leave the house. Want some fun, winter date night ideas? Here are # for you to consider:
1. Skiing/Snowboarding/Tubing/Sledding
Since I failed miserably last time I attempted snowboarding, this year, the husband and I plan to hit the slopes and have me give skiing a try. This is one way you can have a fun date and get outside.
2. Go Bowling
Bowling date nights are great because you can bring your friends along. Make it a double or even a triple date!
3. Game Night
My husband and I do this most weekends when we don’t have other plans. Grab some games, (board games, video games), some wine and have a good old fashioned game night. It’s a never-fail, great date night.
4. Try a Restaurant you’ve never been to together
While browsing “Trip Adviser”, I was absolutely shocked to see how many restaurants in our area we haven’t tried. I started adding them to a “vacation board” that I named “Tourist in our Own Town.”
Go see a movie and try out a new restaurant! The classic dinner and a movie date night is always a great time, especially if you throw some new flavors into the mix.
5. Tasting at Local Breweries
If you and your special somebody enjoy beer, do a search of your local breweries. Go for a tasting! (Make sure you take an Uber or have designated driver.)
6. Go on a Cozy Getaway
Rent a cabin and have a romantic weekend with just the two of you. This can be a great way to unplug, get closer and see some pretty beautiful places. I hear the Poconos are beautiful in winter 🙂
7. Host a Holiday Party Together
This is a pretty awesome date night idea, if you ask me. Make the food together. Mix up a fun punch and invite your friends over for a holiday party.
8. Check out Indoor Concerts
Even though it’s cold outside, there are still a lot of indoor concert venues. Run a search, buy some tickets and have a fun, concert date night together.
9. Attend a Hockey Game
Since we live right outside of Pittsburgh, there’s always the option to go see the Penguins play. It’s a really fun date night.
10. Indoor Shooting Range
If you and your significant other are gun enthusiasts, or just curious about shooting weapons in general, visiting an indoor shooting range can be a really great time!
11. Casino Date Night
Like gambling? Take your significant other and go to the casino. Try a new table game! They can be a lot of fun. (Just don’t take the whole “gambling” thing too seriously. The house always wins in the end).
12. Horror Movie Night
Gather some tasty snacks, pick out some horror movies you’ve never seen and snuggle up together on the couch for a night of scares.
13. Make Wine Together
There are tons of wine making kits out there. My husband and I haven’t tried this one yet but it’s definitely on the list! Creating something together can be a great way to bond and if you like wine – it’s a win win!
14. Fall & Winter Festivals
Once you actually start looking, you’ll be surprised at how many cities have fall and winter festivals. There are a lot of great options out there! Run a search for festivals near you and plan a special date night.
15. Cook Together
Self-explanatory but there are virtually endless options when it comes to creating a meal together. Be adventurous!
16. Check out Events at Local Bars
A lot of bars frequently have karaoke nights, trivia nights and other “themes” that can make for a fun date night.
17. Have a Spa Date
Our skin suffers in the colder months. Warm up and treat yourself with a spa date!
Get Creative, Winter can be fun 🙂
I like the whole idea of playing “tourist” in your own city. Doing that can create a lot more fun date nights for winter!
When you’re with the right person, you can have fun anywhere during any time of year!
Great ideas for reconnecting with my husband! Sometimes life gets hectic with work and kids, it’s good to be reminded to actually plan some “us” time!
These are really great ideas, my husband and I will have to try these events. Thanks for sharing.
Loooove these ideas!! Trying out new restaurants is one of my favorite things!

You’ve got great ideas here – I especially love the idea of a cozy getaway. There is something SO romantic about curling up in front of the fireplace in a snow-covered cabin.
