9 Tips to Achieve Your Goals + FREE WORKSHEET

It’s important that we never stop setting goals for ourselves. Sometimes though, certain goals can just feel so far away. If you’ve ever felt this way, you aren’t alone. The procrastination beast mauls us all from time to time. Luckily, there are ways around procrastination. Here are my best tips to help you achieve your goals:

1. Use Rewards to Motivate yourself

Having a solid reward system in place can really help you supercharge your motivation. Most large goals have smaller steps that must be taken to achieve the end result. Set up rewards for yourself when you achieve those smaller steps. And, have a large reward, for yourself, when you cross the finish line of your goal. For example, some rewards can include:

  • New Outfits
  • A Spa Day
  • Go on Vacation
  • A “Cheat Day”
  • Dinner at your Favorite Restaurant
  • Buy Yourself Something new (Keep a wish-list of items you want & when you complete small steps, buy an item from your wish list).

2. Write it down

I know I say it all the time, but keeping a physical planner with everything written down REALLY increases productivity. Without my planner, I would be lost and stuck wasting time. Having goals written down finalizes them. Write them down anywhere and everywhere you’ll see them frequently throughout your day.

3. Let the people know

Talk about your goals with people. You don’t want to appear to be bullshitting, so telling people about your goals will give you that extra push to reach it! Seriously, this is a huge motivator and has helped TONS of people reach their end goals.

4. Break it down

Have a plan of action in place that will allow you to realistically achieve your end goal. Make steps and complete them one at a time. In a numbered list, write down the smaller steps that need to be taken to reach the finish line.

5. Hold yourself Accountable

At the end of the day, it all comes down to you. How much do you really want it? If  you are stuck in a rut, or keep taking “days off”, you have to hold yourself accountable. The more you procrastinate, the further away you are from your goal. Don’t put the blame elsewhere. YOUR ONLY LIMIT IS YOU.

6. Do it for YOU

Lots of people have opinions about what we “should” be doing. Screw that. Make sure that the goals you’re pursuing are for YOU. Setting goals to make someone else happy, isn’t going to be as motivating as goals that are all about you.

7. Surround yourself with Good Energy

I’m not talking about filling your home with crystals, (unless you think that will work for you?) I’m talking about ditching all the negative vibes. Negative energy is a huge hindrance when it comes to achieving goals. Bring in the good vibes! Surround yourself with items and people who are positive.

8. Know your Why

You have to be clear with yourself on WHY you want to achieve the goal in the first place. Visualize the end result. Why do you want it? What will be better once you achieve this goal? You need to clearly define your “why” when it comes to goal-setting. It will motivate you to achieve the goal if you realize all the benefits achieving said goal will bring.

8. Stay Organized

Clutter is a distraction. Keep everything organized. Stay on top of everything else that’s important and keep your work space as clutter free as possible. (I struggle with this sometimes, as my desk is usually swamped with unorganized stacks of papers & folders BUT I’m working on keeping it organized!) Organization will make reaching your goals MUCH easier. You won’t have to waste time looking for something if everything is in it’s proper place 🙂

9. Consistency is KEY

You have to be consistent when it comes to achieving a goal. Like I said, you can’t keep taking “days off.” Be consistent daily with each goal you have in mind. Break the goals down into daily goals, weekly goals, monthly goals & yearly goals. Follow a pattern of absolute consistency to keep pushing forward!

You have to keep your goals in mind daily. Put Post-It notes around areas you frequent in your home, (for my, post-its on my desk are always starring right in my face, making it impossible to forget).

Remember, there are large goals & smaller ones. Recognize the steps you need to take to achieve each and every goal. The daily tasks are important with most goals, so stick to it! Be consistent.

Most importantly, do it for yourself and always keep the benefits of achieving the goal in your mind! Believe in yourself and try to keep the good vibes around you at all times so you don’t become discouraged.
