7 Motivation Tips: Keep yourself Motivated

No matter what your goal is, staying motivated is essential. It’s really easy to fall prey to procrastination. When it comes to staying motivated, there are some great tips to help you keep going and inevitably reach your intended goal. Here are 7 motivation tips to get to that ultimate, end goal:

1. Always have a “To-Do List”

Make clear, concise steps to help you reach your end goals. Keeping a to-do list is the best way to get things done and it’s a great motivator. Crossing items off your to-do list feels great, thereby increasing your motivation.

2. Keep your Eye on the Prize

Visualization of your end goal is a fantastic way to stay motivated. Visualize the achievement of whatever goal you are striving for. The anticipating of getting there will help you stay motivated.

3. Reward Yourself

Whatever your goal may be, make sure you have rewards for yourself – even when taking those smaller steps towards the ultimate goal. Here are some great rewards to give yourself, (the larger rewards should be things you give yourself/do for yourself once you’ve achieved the final goal):

  • A Relaxation Day
  • Trip to the Spa
  • A vacation
  • Buying new clothes/jewelry/something you love
  • Having a “Cheat Day” (for those who count calories)

Keeping a “reward system” in place will do wonders for your motivation.

4. Keep that Playlist Playing

Having music you love in the background while performing tasks is a motivator that never loses it’s potency. Music is one of my favorite means of motivation while I’m taking care of tasks leading up towards an end goal. Have playlists for all sorts of tasks.

5. Set Deadlines

Set your own deadlines for the goals you want to achieve. Having an end date is a great form of motivation because you are challenging yourself to reach a goal at a particular date. Put it in your planner & keep pushing to meet the deadlines you set. Remember, your biggest opponent when it comes to achieving goals is YOURSELF. Set those deadlines and keep them!

6. Set Realistic, Achievable Steps

Make sure that the steps you create to reach your end goal are realistic. Saying you’ll lose 20 pounds in a week isn’t a realistic goal. Make sure you give yourself enough time and enough stepping stones to get to the end goal. Keep it within your means. That doesn’t mean not to push yourself but just make sure that you’re planning the achievement of the goal based on a realistic system to get there.

7. Surround Yourself with Motivation

Write down some of your favorite motivational quotes on Post-it notes and put them around your work space or on your mirror. Keep positive people in your circle. Change the background of your phone to something that motivates you.

Use affirmations and motivational quotes and materials. Listen to TED talks that discuss motivation while you’re in the car. Have motivational all around you, so that it’s impossible to ignore.

Final Thoughts:

Set the Goal –> Define the Steps to Reach the Goal –> Set a Deadline for your goal –> Motivate yourself –> Achieve the goal.

Never forget that anything worthwhile isn’t going to be easy. It’s going to take work to achieve goals, (some more than others). Staying motivated WILL help you get there. Stay focused on the end result and reward yourself for even the small victories.

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a hundred times – having a physical planner WILL help you get more done. It has done wonders for my productivity.

I hope these tips will help you stay motivated and get to that goal that you’ve been busting your ass to achieve. Keep pushing yourself. You’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish when you put your mind to it. Good luck, Nerds 🙂 .

Always keep leveling up 🙂
