Become More Positive Today

Being more positive can really boost your happiness. Sure, we all have our “negative Nancy” moments, but some people are serious “Debbie downers” all the time. (Okay, done with the nicknames). Eh – maybe not. Why are the popular negative nicknames paired with feminine names? What about “Negative Negan”, (ugh, that freaking show). I digress…. Back to the point: Being a more positive person can make us stress less and be happier. What steps can you take to be a more positive person? Glad you asked 🙂

Take obstacles as challenges. Be a boss. Accept the challenge.

I know – easier said than done, right? Not really. As human beings, we can end up dwelling on our problems – allow them to consume our minds, twist our thoughts and put us in a bad/negative mood. Know that every single person who has or ever will live has problems. Don’t look at issues as these overwhelming obstacleslook at them as a challenge. Think about the challenges you’ve faced before. You showed up to that challenge, correct? Obstacles = challenge. Always accept the challenge and be confident in your ability to overcome it.

Write down your worries and literally toss them in the trash – or better yet, burn em’.

I’m serious. Sometimes just writing down what’s bothering/worrying you can release pent up tension. Physically taking that piece of paper you wrote your worries down on and tossing it in the trash or SAFELY burning it, is a fantastic way to rid yourself of those lingering, negative thoughts that keep you feeling like crap.

Focus on being Thankful for what you have.

A little gratitude goes a long way – and yes, I’m probably quoting my grandmother or mom but those passed-down pieces of wisdom have lasted a long time because they are TRUE. Practicing being thankful for what you do have will boost your mindset towards a more positive one. Some people like to write down at least 3 things they are grateful for everyday. In my planner, (after all my to-dos are finished), I write down 3 positive things that happened or that I accomplished that day.

Enjoy the little things.

Yup, I’m quoting “Zombieland”. When we are stuck in a negative mindset, those little moments in life fly right by us. Take a minute to admire a beautiful sunset. Marvel at the stars. Notice the people you see everyday or strangers you pass by -notice those random smiles, that dude that held the door open for you at the gym, the stupid joke your friend told you that made you laugh anyways, the fact that your parents still haven’t watched “Game of Thrones” and have no clue what the hell you’re talking about when you reference it while talking to them. If you make yourself focus on all those little positive things you normally wouldn’t notice – you’ll find that your pushing yourself towards positive vibes. 🙂 Above is a video of a little friend who visited me while I was starting seeds.

Ditch Negative people.

Sounds harsh? It isn’t. Even if someone really close to you is persistently angry or negative, cross them off your list – get them out of your life. You could talk to them about how their negativity is bringing you down and maybe they’ll change. If not though, you need them out of your circle. Surround yourself with happy, optimistic people that bring you up, not those who bring you down.

Nourish Positive Vibes.

Think of all the things that make you happy. Anything really. Personally, I really like the smell of oranges and roses, (& the smell of Gain), paintings that feature the moon, songs with meaningful lyrics, cute animal videos, orchids, and that lovely alone time where I have absolutely nothing to do.

An idea that really helped me recall things I love & remember to keep them around me: Write your name in the center of a piece of paper. Around your name, draw things you love, or, if you’re not into that, just write words in different styles of handwriting of stuff you, personally, love until the entire paper is filled.

Surround yourself with everything and anything that brings you positive emotions. If you’re seeing/hearing/smelling/feeling stuff that makes you feel happy – you’ll be happy. Nourish all the things that bring you positive vibes.

Let it Goooooo!

So, yeah, I have seen “Frozen” and I oddly love that movie. Don’t dwell on stuff that is pestering you. Let that shit go. There is nothing to be gained from focusing on negative experiences. In the words of Ragnar Lothbrook, from History’s “Vikings”: “Don’t look back. You’re not going that way“.

Becoming more positive will improve your mental health and well being. Is there anything you do that helps you be more positive? Let me know in the comments section. I hope this was helpful.

Be more positive & keep living that healthy life 🙂

Much Love
