Taking a detox bath has some great benefits and it provides you with some much needed “me time”. It’s also an amazing self care practice. I try to take one at least once a week to help me unwind and relax my muscles. Plus, we are exposed to toxins that we are mostly unaware of (yuck). Detox baths can help rid you of those toxins along with other methods of detoxification.
Some Detox Bath Benefits:
- Boosts Health & Well being
- Relaxation, Relaxation, RELAXATION
- Immune Boosting 🙂
- Draws out toxins
Some Great Ingredients for your Detox Bath:
Epsom Salts
For me, Epsom salts are a must have for any detox bath I take. Why? Because they have so many great benefits like:
- Flush out toxins & heavy metals
- Boots your magnesium levels
- Helps de-stress and relax your body
- Reduces pain and inflammation
Baking Soda
There are so many uses of baking soda! It’s a household must-have. I buy baking soda every time I go to the store. It’s a great addition to a detox bath. I use about a cup and a half usually. Benefits include:
- Detoxifies skin and balances the body’s PH levels
- Soothes irritated skin
- Makes skin smooth
- Eases itching associated with bug bites
Apple Cider Vinegar
Another household must-have due to all it’s uses. (I’ll talk about those in a later post). But ACV is an excellent addition to any detox bath for the following reasons:
- Has antibacterial properties so it can kill fungus & bacteria on skin
- Balances body’s PH levels
- Improves skin health
- Kills odors
Essential Oils
They are one of my current obsessions and I don’t see them fading from my radar. Like other possible ingredients to a detox bath, essential oils have TONS of uses. Some of my favorite to include in a detox bath are: lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint, tea tee oil and peppermint. I’ll get into a lot more about essential oils in other posts – I’m currently obsessed with finding as many uses for each oil as possible 🙂
Hydrogen Peroxide
It can be used for a lot more than first aid purposes. For a detox bath, adding some hydrogen peroxide can provide these benefits:
- Purifies and cleanses the skin
- Aids in pulling out toxins
- Even gets rid of residue left behind from certain soaps
Green Tea
Green tea is just all around good 🙂. It’s benefits are vast and many people swear by drinking it everyday, (including me). You can add a couple teabags to your detox bath for these added benefits:
- Relaxing
- Helps rejuvenate and repair skin
Other ingredients the people add to detox baths include: honey, coconut oil and ginger.Â

Detox baths are a great way to relax, unwind and drive toxins out. Use hot water, hydrate and try to soak between 30-45 minutes. I like to listen to calming music and light some candles 🙂 Are there any recipes that are your favorite? Let me know in the comments.
